Aims & Scope
The Journal of Movement Mechanics & Biomechanics Science (JMMBS) provides an open-access platform for peer-reviewed research dedicated to understanding human movement through mechanical and biological perspectives.
Journal Mission
Our mission is to advance the science of human movement by publishing rigorous, clinically relevant, and methodologically sound research. We prioritize clarity, ethical transparency, and reproducibility in biomechanical diagnostics and performance analytics.
Thematic Areas
JMMBS publishes original research, reviews, and methodological reports across several core areas:
- Clinical Biomechanics: Injury mechanisms, joint loading, and orthopedic gait analysis.
- Movement Mechanics: Kinematics, kinetics, and neuromuscular control of human motion.
- Rehabilitation Science: Return-to-play protocols, functional assessment, and corrective exercise mechanics.
- Performance Analytics: Strength and conditioning science, power diagnostics, and athletic sequencing.
- Emerging Technology: Use of AI/ML in movement analytics, wearables (IMUs), and sensor fusion.
Article Types
JMMBS considers the following manuscript types:
- Original Research Articles
- Systematic Reviews and Narrative Reviews
- Methodological and Technical Reports
- Clinical/Applied Biomechanics Case Reports (where appropriate and ethically compliant)
- Brief Reports and Research Notes
Scope Boundaries
To maintain scientific focus, JMMBS does not consider manuscripts that are:
- Outside movement mechanics, biomechanics, rehabilitation science, or performance analytics
- Primarily promotional, anecdotal, or lacking verifiable methods and data support
- Non-scientific opinion pieces without evidence-based argumentation and clear limitations
Language and Standards
The journal publishes primarily in English. Submissions must include clear methods, appropriate statistics or analytical rationale, transparent limitations, and sufficient detail to support reproducibility and peer review.
Audience
The journal serves a global community including biomechanists, physical therapists, sports scientists, orthopedic surgeons, strength coaches, and students. By being fully open access, JMMBS ensures that evidence-based research reaches practitioners and researchers immediately without financial barriers.
